摘要：
The application of the STELLA simulation software to teaching pharmacokinetic principles in the classroom is described. A Macintosh computer and liquid crystal projection pad for overhead projection permits viewing of the simulations by an entire class. The simulations run in real time rather than being static displays. The example used to illustrate STELLA is a one-compartment model with first order absorption and an pharmacologic response that is related to the plasma concentration using the sigmoid E(max) model. The influence of absorption rate differences on the plasma concentration-time and effect-time profiles is demonstrated. Multiple plots can be displayed simultaneously to show the effects of changing a model parameter. The plots can be stopped and started during their simulation for discussion.
