BLOOM OF EMILIANIA-HUXLEYI (PRYMNESIOPHYCEAE) IN WESTERN SOUTH-ATLANTIC OCEAN

摘要
A monospecific bloom of the coccolithophorid Emiliania huxleyi (Lohmann) Hay & Mohler (Prymnesiophyceae) was detected off Rio de La Plata at 36 degrees S and 54 degrees W in November 1989. The cell densities observed were up to 6 x 10(5) cells l(-1). This is the first record of a bloom of E.huxleyi in the area.
