The spin polarization of electrons elastically scattered by Xe is found in a Dirac-Fock calculation for an impact energy range of 40 to 100 eV. All electrons are treated as indistinguishable and experience the same interactions, namely those arising from the relativistic frozen-core and model polarization potentials of the target. Exchange, including polarization exchange, is calculated exactly for the large and small components of the Dirac wavefunctions. On the whole, the results are in good agreement with recent experiments and with theoretical calculations using a different treatment of the core polarization.
