AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY INTERVENTION IN TOURETTE'S SYNDROME

The Tourette's Syndrome main characteristic is both multiply display of motors and vocal tics in some moment of disturbance, not necessarily simultaneous, but coexistent. It is considerate a rare syndrome, without apparent cause, and that may contribute to do damages in personal, familiar and social life. The studies and cases studies about the syndrome are meager in literature, so is important to study the syndrome and possible treatment. The content of this paper was presented, as a minicourse, during XII Study Week in Occupational Therapy (Semana de Estudos em Terapia Ocupacional) at Universidade Federal de Sao Carlos, and its purpose was to clear the nature the Tourette's Syndrome, its treatment, and mainly the contribution of occupational therapy, based on a clinical intervention with a male patient.
