OF THE FOUR ELEMENTS IN THE ''marketing mix,'' price (cost) analysis provides the library manager with valuable data for decision-making and a practical approach to developing marketing strategies. This article examines the concept of the program budget, cost-finding methodologies, the influence of demand, the impact of technology, and budget presentation. Emphasis is given to looking beyond simple numbers and considering pricing within the broader definition of what produces ''cost''-and to whom.
