AN APPROACH TO LOCAL DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE

The local level is an important stage in strengthening democracy in its own right is the level of governance closest to the citizens and where you can develop mechanisms to enhance citizen participation in public affairs. Given this reality in this article explores the relationship between globalization and local governance, analyzed from the set of initiatives aimed at strengthening the many civil society actors, and making government more effective, accountable, open, transparent and democratic. Defends the thesis that this work is that in a context of complex political and socioeconomic interdependence worldwide, strengthening local democracy, increasing levels of participation, the design of new mechanisms for discussion and shared decision constitute prerequisites for sustainable democracies.
