摘要
One of the major issues of the shipping companies of how to reduce their operating costs has been solved in few ways. Firstly, the engine manufacturers have developed an efficient system for controlling the large exhaust valve and injecting fuel into cylinders. The system which is quite complex, is supported by many sensors that measure the performance of each cylinder in real time. The result is a 30% lower fuel consumption at a lower and middle RPM. Secondary, the shipping companies have minimized crew costs by reducing the number of ships personnel to the minimum level still enabling vessel safe operation.
