摘要
This article examines popular Pakistani sentiment about terrorism in their country and their perception of the United States elucidated with the help of authoritative surveys. Trajectories of populist opinion are highlighted, indicating that although common Pakistanis have made a rational choice to reject terrorism, they have simultaneously expressed resentment of America and its policies, particularly in the region. This article engages in analytical discourse to uncover the reasons for this smoldering anti-American sentiment in a state considered a frontline U.S. ally against the global war on terror and argues against a hitherto focused American policy of engagement solely with the Pakistani leadership.
