摘要
The remittances that Mexican migrants from the United States send to their families remaining in their communities and villages of origin are an important source of funding for both the national economy and thousands of families who receive them. However, it is noteworthy that not all members of migrant households receive remittances in the country, not all migrants send money by the same amount, rhythms and frequencies, as both the act of referring and receiving remittances is determined by a variety sociodemographic factors, economic and cultural. This paper examines the personal, family and contextual influence on the propensity to remit money to Mexico between the Mexican-origin population living in the Chicago metropolitan area; at the same time we discuss the results found in previous works and describe the sociodemographic profile of the Mexican population that makes sending remittances to Mexico. This will use information gathered by the survey "Characterization of the population of Mexican origin in metropolitan Chicago (2005)".
