Relations of Power in the Venezuelan Financial System Over the Period 1990-2003

The discussions of the Venezuelan financial system are realized most frequently in the economic field, however, in other fields of knowledge such as the social-political area, there are also other readings. It is precisely this perspective that is explored in this paper, where we analyze power relations that exist in the Venezuelan financial system, over the period 1990-2003. We approach this topic from the perspective of collective action proposed by Marcur Olson. The results indicate the existence of noticeable contradictions in interests and antagonisms between economic agents who interact within the Venezuelan financial system, and who have been conforming a very volatile political process with monopolistic and sectarian tendencies within the system.
