摘要：
New merit values for lens performance m = Sigma(Qh)(2) and ($) over bar m = Sigma(Qh)(2) were introduced, where Q is Abbe's invariant, h is paraxial ray height and the bar indicates principal ray. Our studies showed that m and ($) over bar m are useful for the evaluation of potentialities of lens systems and for the optimization of lens designs.
