摘要
During one year we have studied the malaria-related mortality between the febrile diseases in the department of pediatry at the hospital of Ouagadougou. To be included in the study the children had to undergo a checkup in order to identify the etiology of the fever. Every febrile case with presence of P. falciparum whatever the parasite density has been considered as malaria attack. During the study, 4 237 children 0-14 years old have been hospitalized and 2 145 were febrile at the time of the thorough medical examination. 972 of them who fulfiled the requirement of the criterions of inclusion were selected. Among them 286 (29.42 %) have been considered as malaria attacks, with 110 cases of pernicious malaria, 106 cases of simple attacks, and 70 cases of malaria associated to other diseases. Malaria has been the secund cause of fever after the pulmonary infections. 67 deaths have been registered during the study and 11 of them have been related to malaria. Its lethality rate is higher among the 1-2 years old children. Malaria has occupied the secund place of the cause of mortality after the pulmonary infections and the fourth place of the causes of lethality after the pulmonary infections, the infectious diarrhoeas and urinary infections.
