PRINCIPAL PROBLEMS IN REGARD TO CLIMATE IN FOREST SITE SCIENCE AND FOREST ECOLOGY

A combination of the terms ''atmosphere and soil'' is better than ''climate and soil''. Unfortunately, forest site science relates climate to woodless terrain, soil to forests. Methodically favourable is the distinction between ''basis climate'' (Basisklima, site without forest) and ''state climate'' (Zustands-klima, site with forest). Weather stations do not measure the basis climate. Furthermore, problems connected with the selection of climatic elements, the measuring errors and the fertility of climate are discussed.
