摘要
Distribution of 17 species of cephalopods in western and central Bering Sea is described. Most squid concentrations are observed near continental slope in 100-500 m layer. Squid biomass in western and central Bering Sea is assessed 2.3 mln. t, of which 1.4 mln. t are gonatids. Annual gonatid production in Bering Sea is about 9.4 mln. t, that is more than production of most numerous fishes. Predators consumption of gonatid sguids (4,2 mln. t) and self-consumption (2,4 mln. t) are assessed. The importance of squid in Bering Sea pelagic ecosystem is noted.
