PANIC DISORDER WITH COMORBID AGORAPHOBIA AND MAJOR DEPRESSION - DEVELOPMENTAL AND PRECIPITATING FACTORS

Panic disorder patients with agoraphobia, major depressed patients, and patients with all these disorders (comorbid patients) were compared in terms of developmental and precipitating factors. There were no significant indications of a more traumatic childhood with more disturbed parental relationships in the comorbid patients. More of the major depressed than of the comorbid patients reported conflict at work as the most important life change at symptom debut. More of the major depressed than of the comorbid and the panic-agoraphobic patients reported that environmental problems, as opposed to personality problems, represented the most importent maintaining factor for their mental problems.
