ON THE CHARACTERIZATION OF CARBON-FIBER SURFACES BY X-RAY EXCITED AUGER-ELECTRON SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
A study has been performed on the use of the energy separation (E(s)) between the two major excursions in the first derivative of the KVV Auger region of carbon to characterize bonding on carbon fibres surfaces. Tests were made to establish a reliable way to measure E(s) values. The analytical applications of E(s) measurements during high temperature Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) annealing, long-term UHV storage and progressive surface oxidation of carbon fibres are discussed in the light of literature information.
