摘要
Polymer gels have active chemomechanical properties of chemically induced deformation, volume change, hardening and permeability change. Chemomechanical reactions can also be induced thermally, electrically and by photons. These properties could be applicable to a variety of fields as new driving mechanisms. In this review some of these properties are introduced with some fundamentals and critically surveyed to determine the problems to be solved. This gives a basic idea of chemomechanical energy conversion using polymer gels.
