摘要
Reductive roasting of titanomagnetite ore of Egyptian origin was done with carbon in the presence of sodium carbonate at 600-900-degrees-C for periods ranging from 30-240 minutes. Pre-oxidation of the ore and additions of sodium carbonate up to about 35% enhanced the reduction efficiency. The reaction isotherms can be represented up to 800-degrees-C by a diffusion model represented by [1-(2X/3)-(1-X)2/3] = Kt, where X is fraction reacted after time t, and K is specific rate constant. The activation energy for the reductive roasting has been calculated to be 168.19 KJ/mole in the temperature range 600-800-degrees-C. At higher temperature, the roasting process is possibly controlled by a mixed mechanism.
