摘要
An exact solution is given for the reflected wave formed in a nonlinear medium when a plane compression front steepens into a shock. The solution predicts both a shock and a reflected wave. In the small-amplitude limit the reflected wave strength varies as (DELTAP)3, where DELTAP is the strength of the initial wave front.
