ADVANCES IN HIV/AIDS EDUCATION AND PREVENTION

Following a brief review of HIV behavioral epidemiology pertinent to planning risk reduction interventions factors found in recent studies to be related to HIV risk taking and risk reduction are discussed and their implications for prevention interventions are considered. HIV prevention outcome projects that have resulted in objective evidence of risk behavior change are then reviewed with particular emphasis on the shared or common characteristics of these efficacious interventions. Key prevention issues of which we still have limited knowledge are considered, and potential ways to incorporate improved HIV prevention activities in applied service program settings are discussed.
