摘要
In each of 2 studies, assumptions from racial identity and demographic models were used to study White N = 183 and Black N = 76 participants' strength of preference for counselors' racial and demographic characteristics. Hierarchical regression analyses showed that Whites' racial identity attitudes predicted their social-class and White-counselor preferences; Blacks' racial identity attitudes predicted their preference for White male counselors. White's preferences for same-sex counselors were predicted by their demographics and racial identity attitudes. Results suggest that the racial identity and demographic models operate differently in different racial groups. © 1991 American Psychological Association.
