SOCIAL NETWORS IN SOCIAL WORK: NOTES FOR PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

Objective. To set out a reflection on the relevance of social networks in social work practice. For this purpose, the results of a research conducted in El Solferino neighborhood of the city of Manizales, Colombia which aimed to identify the meanings constructed by its inhabitants against the social networks considered significant, were taken into account. Methodology. Descriptive study which is carried out from the conceptual review of relevant authors in this area and some aspects of Nussbaum's (2012) capacity theory and Gergen's (2006) social constructionism. Results. This article shows the relevance of social networks for the analysis of social processes and the construction of social fabric. Conclusion. Social networks were identified as a bet for the construction of development alternatives.
