Latin America: political communication and media discourse in contexts of social and revolutionary transformations

This article sets forward a reflection and discussion concerning a problem that is considered to be vital within a certain Latin American academic production. We have verified that in Latin America a large accumulation of empirical evidence has been achieved; however, the same is preferably interpreted within European or North American theoretical frames. Consequently, our matrixes of interpretation contain a veil that predetermines a priori the analyses, thus hindering the possibility of an autonomous theoretical progress. In respect of that point, we will refer to a type of analysis concerning the media and the political communication in Latin America.
