摘要
Successful learning experiences are the direct results of a planned curriculum. These experiences make sense and are meaningful to the learner. In being meaningful the learning experience positively contributes to the dignity and well-being of the individual. Using the factory model for learning, where information is fragmented and the learner left to piece together the information, is no longer a viable method of learning. Today and in the future, learners must be provided with the skills to quickly analyse, organize, and interpret information across various; disciplines. To address these needs an interdisciplinary approach to education is required where learning is applied across the curriculum, and where the learner is actively engaged intellectually, physically, and emotionally. This article, based on personal experiences acquired over the past 20 years in education and training, and supported by recent brain research and cognitive psychology, proposes a holistic approach to educational change which is non-disruptive to the present system, produces enhanced meaningful and lasting learning outcomes, and is cost effective.
