摘要：
The unsubstituted (at N-1) title compounds exist in the solution predominantly as 2-methyl-4-(p-X-phenylazo)imidazoles. After methylation p-X-phenylazo substituent has been found either at the C-4 atom of the imidazole ring if X = H, Br, or at one of the positions C-4 or C-5 X = OCH3.
