This article is based on wind tunnel tests with aeroelastic and fixed models regarding time-average and fluctuating response, and wind loading on very bluff box-girder bridges with vertical side faces. Such cross-sections are often used for prestressed concrete bridges constructed by the balanced cantilever method. The load generation is studied through measurement of pressures around the perimeter and for different cross-sections with emphasis on the spectral density and correlation/coherence of the fluctuating components.
