A graft copolymer of acrylonitrile (AN) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) on ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) was obtained using benzoyl peroxide as initiator. The effects of EPDM content, solvent, mole ratio of AN to MMA, reaction time and temperature in the synthesis of the graft copolymer were examined. The maximum grafting efficiency was obtained at 80-degrees for 30 hr when toluene was used as solvent. The light resistance, weatherability and thermal stability of the graft copolymer were considerably better than those of AN-butadiene-styrene copolymer.
