摘要
Creating his psychological theories was a reparative process for Jung. Jung could not himself develop a coherent theory of child development because his own childhood had been so terribly painful, and he did not have the possibility of working through his infantile traumas in a contained analysis as we would think of it today. Rather, Jung delved within himself to find his own healing potential. What he has left us is a remarkable legacy of a creative encounter with the depths of the human spirit. His work has shown how the inner world in a creative and transformative way can help compensate for a painful and tormented outer experience. What Jung's legacy makes us think of is how important it is to integrate both the internal and external worlds in analysis. and how difficult this process can be. I think that Jung's experiences in infancy and childhood underline the importance that early experiences have for the shaping of psychological theories. In addition they point the way towards further developments in our science and practice. For analytical psychology, the task remains to integrate the realms of the infant. the child, and the interpersonal world into our already developed symbolic approach. In this way a deeper integration of personality will be possible. In this way we both honor Jung's legacy, and develop theory and practice to areas he was unable to fully explore.
