摘要
A rapid, tetrazolium-based assay was developed for measuring the toxicity of the terpenoid phytoalexin desoxyhemigossypol (dHG) to the cotton wilt pathogen Verticillium dahliae. The assay is based on the enzymatic reduction of 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) (MTT) by live Verticillium dahliae. The absorption of the reduced blue formazan product of MTT is read in multiwell plates with an ELISA reader. This rapid, quantitative assay yields a dose-response curve that allows examination of the toxicity of dHG to numerous stains of V. dahliae which is impossible with nonquantitative, solid media-based assays. © 1990.
