Some lexical and syntactic aspects of Orality and Oral in African French-Speaking Literature

This study tries to show that African oral textual genres like proverbs, riddles, songs, stories, epics, legends, etc. are not the only literary forms of orality/oral in African literary texts. It aims to prove that orality and oral have linguistic manifestations. Thus, interferences of African languages, loan-words from African languages, etc. are described as some lexical and syntactical of oral and orality in African French-speaking literature. The author of the article argues also that we cannot talk about orality in Patrice Nganang's novel, Temps de chien, because his variety of French expresses Cameroon popular urban culture, while the novels of the Ivorian writer, Ahmadou Kourouma, are dominated by orality. This is due to the fact that Patrice Nganang of Cameroon is motivated by the willing of French as it is spoken in unformal situations, when Ahmadou Kourouma of Ivory Coast wants to give to his variety of French a west-african or a malinke identity. The approach chosen is the Sociolinguistic one in its descriptive and contrastive methods.
