g Territorial consolidations and fragmentations within the Catholic Church: Catholic Charismatic Renewal and Basic Ecclesial Communities in Rondonia

Within the Catholic Church there are many expressions to refer to spirituality, and each one has its characteristics and identity. Many of these manifestations materialize in groups composed of a mix of religious men and women either being clergy or laity. These faith embodiments, called as " movements", have a large number of followers, which can be found in most Catholic communities scattered around the world. In this article, it is discussed social concepts and phenomena, with a particular spatial approach, related to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) and the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC). With this focus, it is analyzed the facts that allow to infer a noticeable territorial division within the Catholic Church, remarkably in the case of Rondonia state, concerning these two religious streams; a phenomenon being observed as the result of an ideological line taken by each of these movements, as well as the implications in the Catholic Church settings. The main research goal is to have an in-depth understanding and insights over the ideological, cultural and political components linked to the development of these two religious streams within the only Church.
