摘要
The development, design and planning of future mobile radio systems (e.g. UMTS, FPLMTS, CDMA-based systems) is mainly affected by the characteristics of the mobile radio channel. For fundamental system design, the radio channel can be characterized by basic design figures like the delay spread and the delay window to describe its frequency selectivity. The effective values of these characteristic figures depend on the radio channel and the bandwidth and shape of the transfer function of the mobile radio system. The main objective of this paper is to describe these influences on the effective channel parameters for different measured exemplary impulse responses, which are obtained using a wideband channel sounder in the 1800 MHz frequency range. Radio systems with given system bandwidth are described as being either narrowband or wideband. The main influence on narrowband systems is flat fading, whereas for wideband systems the main influence is frequency selective fading. In both cases the principal behaviour is directly related to the channel coherence bandwidth. Hence this is therefore dependent on the actual scenario where the system is operated.
