Catharine of Siena: A 14th Century Writer

The aim of this article is to point out some readings on Saint Catherine of Siena. It is intended at perceiving how theocentric and anthropocentric views of society at large reflect on the works of the Sienese, considering the imagetic representation of her imagetic world. First of all, for didactic purposes, a brief summary of the life and work of Saint Catherine will be presented. After that, the representation of the "self" in the literature, as well as how that literature has reflected changes in world conception, will be discussed.
