PLASMON EFFECTS IN LIGHT SCALAR AND PSEUDO-SCALAR EMISSION FROM A SUPERNOVA

摘要
The emission of light scalars and pseudo-scalars (axion-like particles) coupled to the chromo/electric field from a QCD QED plasma at high temperature and very high density is studied in detail. The calculation is then applied to the SN1987A event for which new bounds on the Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking scale fa are derived, fa ≳ 3 × 109 GeV in presence of a quark-gluon core and fa ≳ 107 GeV, which is the same bound as the one obtained from red giant stars, by considering axion emission from the electron gas. © 1991.
