Theological Education for a World Church

This paper was presented as a key-note address to the members of the New Zealand Association of Theological Schools (NZATS) in Auckland, 15th - 17th July 2004, and is published with the author's permission. It raises foundational questions about the relationship between systematic theology and missiology, and then proposes elements of curriculum design that are more in tune with the contemporary world church. The proposals arise from the experience of theological education at Chicago's Catholic Theological Union. Although specifically addressed to Aotearoa-New Zealand theologians, the issues are certainly relevant to all institutions of higher learning in theological education today.
