In this article the author postulates there are six key factors associated with changing preservice teachers' attitudes toward and beliefs about diversitytheir dispositions, which include openness, self-awarenesss/self-reflectiveness, and commitment to social justice; and their experiences, which include intercultural, educational, and support group experiences. The author discusses each factor in turn and explains how research on the effectiveness of multicultural teacher education courses and experiences offers evidence of the great importance of each of these six factors.
