摘要
This paper discusses the impacts of selected residential sector demand-side management programmes in a predominantly hydro based electric utility of Nepal on the utility's capacity mix, expansion schedule and the environment. The economics of demand-side options are analysed from the societal and participant perspectives. A key finding of the paper is that some demand-side programmes can result in increased emissions of air pollutants from power generation. The DSM options involving total replacement of incandescent lamps with compact fluorescent lamps are found to be attractive from the societal perspective but not so from participant perspectives.
