摘要
A common defect on cold-reduced strip is lines, which are impressions left on the metal from microscopic zones of built-up metal formed on the work rolls. The defect is formed during the rolling of metal 0. 5-0. 7 mm thick. The authors performed trials to reduce the area of contact between the strip and the roll and improve the lubricating capacity of the emulsion to prevent seizing of the contact surfaces and formation of microbands. Additional cooling at the exit of the strip lowered the surface temperature of the rolls by 8-10 degree C and reduced overheating.
