Labour market insertion of Latin-American skilled migration in Spain and the United States

The purpose of this paper is to study the differences in performance in labour markets of Latin American skilled immigrants in the United States and Spain. The methods applied are descriptive and multivariate statistics and the sources of information are the Encuesta Nacional de Inmigrantes of Spain (2007) and the American Communnity Survey (2006-2008) of United States. The results suggest that when we take into consideration the relative position of lac-born against the rest of immigrants we see that in the United States LAC are in a more disadvantageous position than the rest of the immigrants, a situation that is not seen in Spain. The evidence also shows a great heterogeneity in performance of immigrants by country of origin.
