From classroom to Facebook: Mediations and ideology in English teaching as a foreign language

摘要
This study analyzes the manifested pedagogical ideology in the scholar teaching of English using Facebook. We work with a teacher and 107 teenage students from a public Colombian school. From a cultural- historical perspective, interviews and a virtual ethnography were carried out. We found out that the ideological features that define real-world teaching tend to be translated to the virtual plane. Nevertheless, the use of Facebook offers potential affordances to the scholar activity system, such as the creation of particular social ties between teacher and students.
