MANAGEMENT OF STEM ROT OF PEANUTS (ARACHIS-HYPOGAEA) CAUSED BY SCLEROTIUM-ROLFSII WITH FUNGICIDES

Field studies were conducted from 1989 to 1992 at sites in Lavaca and Frio County, Texas to evaluate fluazinam, flutolanil, tebuconazole, MON 24 000 and SAN 619 for management of southern stem rot of peanut caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. MON 24 000 and tebuconazole reduced southern stem rot infections most consistently; however, control of southern stem rot was variable in plots treated with flurolanil, fluazinam and SAN 619. In some tests, there was no corresponding increase in yield with increased disease control.
