THE ROLE OF STAKEHOLDERS TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM: A THEORETICAL DISCUSSION

摘要
The theme of sustainable development has attracted the interest of many researchers studying on this topic. Considered as a challenge, the achievement of sustainable development is seen as a plausible alternative to the current society satisfies its needs without compromising the survival of future generations. Therefore, it is necessary that the activities in a given locality can meet the principles of sustainability, it means maintain balance and equality between the social, environmental and economic, in addition to the involvement of the various social actors for planning and execution actions that may contribute to this range. Among these activities, tourism stands out as one of the themes that comes from highlighting in current debates about sustainable development, since it is an activity that can influence both positively and negatively a given location. Considering the perspective of sustainability, the scope of sustainable tourism may become possible from the interaction and complementarity of different social actors, such as government, private companies and civil society, each one fulfilling their responsibilities and their specific duties. Accordingly, this article proposes to discuss the role of different stakeholders working for the realization of sustainable tourism, showing the relationships between these social actors. As a result, we have the discussion and notes regarding the roles of each stakeholder important to the achievement of sustainable tourism as a basis for conducting empirical research and future studies.
