摘要
Throughout Latin America, the need to consider cultural diversity in all areas of human endeavour has emerged as a priority in recent years. In a context shaped by new technologies and social movements, there is a demand for innovative responses that are consistent with the rapid changes that these conditions entail. The difference between the homogenization of the indigenous population - and therefore its mestization-and the new intercultural policies is that the latter seek to avoid the imposition of sameness on diversity, favouring complementarity over assimilation. The preference for interculturalism is based on a modern construction of claims to fundamental rights. This is linked to the concept of legal pluralism: the co-existence of various normative orders within the same country.
