摘要：
Expert systems are of current interest in many kinds of industries and in science. Here an examination is made of what aspects of expert systems are of interest in the practical chemical engineering work of the automation of chemical plants and how they can be integrated into the existing automation systems. The questions which are still open to further investigations are formulated.
