摘要
Bedtime problems and night wakings are common concerns for parents and physicians caring for young children. Untreated sleep problems may not resolve without intervention. Behavioral interventions are known to effectively treat bedtime problems and night wakings; however, because there is some degree of controversy surrounding these treatments, clinicians may be reluctant to recommend them and parents may find them unacceptable. This article explores the most common controversies regarding the application of behavioral interventions for sleep problems in children. To help guide clinical decision making, the authors present the available empiric evidence regarding commonly expressed concerns.
