摘要
Background. Thoracic surgeries belong to the procedures which are the greatest burden for human organism, since they are associated with a partial loss of the respiratory area. Objectives. The aim of this study was to measure quality of life in patients after pneumonectomy, lobectomy and other types of thoracic surgery. Material and methods. The study involved 113 patients. Selected quality of life aspects were assessed with the standardized questionnaire SF-36. Results. Statistically significant difference was observed between patients after pneumonectomy and lobectomy, while in case of patients after other thoracic surgeries it only referred to their physical ability. Conclusions. Awareness of the difficulties with motor adaptation of patients after pneumonectomy and lobectomy, resulting from their reduced respiratory area, should persuade staff to be particularly attentive while providing postsurgical care and rehabilitation to the described group of patients.
