We consider the mathematical programming problem: find inf left brace f(x) vertical x an element of C right brace where f is an arbitrary extended-real-valued function, and C a subset of a finite dimensional space. We give necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for this problem, generalizing previous results of A. Auslender.
