Disability and sexuality: Solutions for sexual misery?

This text aims to critically question on one hand different ways to conceive the sexual misery of people with disabilities and on the other hand, the possible solutions to this problem. The technicality and partial outcome of direct sexual aid (prostitution, assistance and volunteering) render it an unsatisfactory solution. Such a solution may entertain not only a fatalist vision of sexual misery, a simplified representation of disabled individuals' sexuality but also, a dependence to direct sexual aid. The sexual interventions geared toward this population must develop integration and social participation projects giving people with disabilities the knowledge and skills necessary in becoming autonomous and active sexual citizens.
