How to confronting racism in public schools: achievements and challenges

This article aimed to reflect about the actions to combat racism and prejudice in a public school in the Federal District, identify the affirmative actions performed during the Week of block consciousness and also suggest activities that con be corned out throughout the year, transforming into elements of combating racial discrimination in the school environment. It contemplates, among other discussions, themes that address the combat against racism in public schools, the activities carried out during the Week of black consciousness in a public school and the challenges for the realization of events and activities that promote racial equality within school researched. The results revealed the need to involve the whole school community in discussions, workshops and meetings, as well as enlarge and offer a range of suggestions to be worked on throughout the school year. The study also revealed the teachers' needs of discussions strengthening, echoing initial and ongoing training.
