A NOTE ON THE MORAL INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY AGAINST THE CALAMITY OF HUNGER

The text briefly approaches the old problem of moral responsibility of the rich over the calamities of hunger and absolute poverty. To this end, it presents Ernesto Garzon and Peter Singer's proposals about the level of accountability and it identifies some plausible critiques to them. Then, it explains Singer's latest initiative to promote an end to absolute poverty and the tensions it poses to his own theory. Finally, it advocates for considering the matter from the point of view of virtue ethics.
